Alan Fink is an award winning artist and has been painting professionally since 1972 . He began drawing and painting from his earliest years under the tutelage of his mother, Baltimore artist Paula Fink (1927-2018). He continued his post secondary education at University of Maryland College Park and UMUC. In 1970, he enrolled in the Schuler School of Art in Baltimore, where he studied drawing, pastel and oil painting with Ann Schuler, and sculpture with Hans Schuler, Jr.  Alan's work is rooted in classical realism in subject matter that includes portrait, still life, and landscape.   He works in a variety of mediums, however, his current body of work focuses on soft pastel.
In 1980, Alan took over the directorship of what is now the Fink School of Traditional Art, started by Paula in 1965, where he teaches drawing, pastel, and oil painting. Additionally, he teaches pastel painting and acrylic painting at the Community College of Baltimore County.  Alan is a member of the International Guild of Realism, a signature member of the  Maryland Pastel Society, and a member of the Southeastern Pastel Society, the Appalachian Pastel Society, and the Philadelphia Pastel Society. He exhibits and sells his work both online and in his own gallery located in the Fink Art School (https://finkartschool.com)  in historic Reisterstown, Maryland. Requests for commissioned work should be sent to alan@alanfink.com.
